Summer Programs at Interfaith Works

It’s finally summer!

Long summer days bring fresh opportunities to do things together as a family. What if you could build memories while also giving back to your community?

Interfaith Works’ programs are filled with opportunities for families looking to make a difference for our neighbors this summer. Volunteering at Interfaith Works' locations can help build a sense of community and connection.

That sense of connection is especially important at IW programs where residents can sometimes feel socially isolated. Engaging activities can have a big impact. You can volunteer to host a BBQ, lead a family fun day, or organize gardening at any of our Shared Supportive Housing locations, each serving 8 older adult men or women with disabilities and vulnerabilities. Children must be 10 years or older to volunteer with the Shared Supportive Housing programs. Interested? Email Henrietta to learn more.

Looking forward to taking the summer to clean out those closets? Make it a two-fer! You and your family can donate gently used clothes, linens, clothing hangers, and toys to the Essential Needs Center (751 Twinbrook Parkway, Rockville), and your family also can take a volunteer shift together sorting donations! Children must be 14 years or older, and all volunteers must attend orientation before volunteering at the Essential Needs Center. Learn more here.

Want to teach your children and their friends how to cook or organize a potluck? Our programs are always in need of meal providers. Families can provide and/or serve meals for shelter residents (about 35 people), meals for Supportive Housing residents (about 8 people), or bagged lunches for encampment outreach (about 60 people).
