Take a moment. Close your eyes. Set a timer for five minutes and observe your mind. No need to control anything—just watch. What do you notice?
Thoughts flow like waves, in the form of memories, tasks, worries, and hopes. They swirl and fade, replaced by new ones. This restless inner movement is where Inner Yoga begins.
What is Yoga?
The ancient Yoga Sūtras of Patañjali define yoga as “Yogaḥ citta vṛtti nirodhaḥ,” which translates to “Yoga is the stilling of the mind’s fluctuations.” This definition comes
from Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtras, the classic ancient text.
When the mind settles, a space of silence opens within, writes Swami Satchidananda in his commentary on The Yoga Sūtras of Patañjali.
In that silence, thought waves begin to quiet. With continuous practice, impurities of the mind—fear, anger, jealousy—are gradually burned away. Living in the present moment becomes your natural state. In that presence, there is no room to dwell on the past or chase the future. You are simply here and now. Inner Yoga invites you to experience just that.
Beyond the Physical: The Essence of Inner Yoga
Inner Yoga goes beyond the common perception of yoga. Many associate yoga with Hatha yoga, which emphasizes physical postures, breath, and movement. While valuable for strength, flexibility, and vitality, this focus often overshadows yoga’s true purpose: the inward journey to still the restless mind. Inner Yoga addresses this dimension.
Inspirations from the Foothills of the Himalayas
In 2023, Nilu revisited Rishikesh, the Yoga Capital of the World, where yoga’s essence inspires simply being. In its serene environment, simplicity and depth became Nilu’s calling, revealing fresh insights into her practice. Inspired, she returned with a commitment to share Inner Yoga’s life-changing benefits. From this vision, Nilu created Witnessing Mind.
